In the midst of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Openhack was swift to take its hackathon game virtually. First we co-organized Hack the Crisis Sweden, The Global Hack and some of us participated as mentors in other hacks like #EUvsVirus. Yet, as we progressed in time and reflected over lessons learned from those organizer experiences and looked ahead at our annual hackathon events, we decided to find a suitable partner to power our operations to a next level.
This is where Shawee came in, as an international hackathon organizer and virtual hackathon platform provider running hackathons accross Latin America, the USA and the Middle East.
As they just recently celebrated their 3rd birthday, their biggest event to date counted 7000 participants. They run 6 annual events (with one specifically dedicated to women in tech) while on average running 5 hackathons a month (white label & their own). Since going virtual in full swing, they automated the hackathon setup process as well as streamlined their training of mentors, coaches and jury members to better participate in the hackathons. And if this wasn’t enough, they are committed to driving progress towards 5 UN SDGs with their work and give their platform for free to NGOs, schools & tech communities.
Check out Shawee fully here. In the meantime, we’re thrilled to have them power us with their platform starting with Openhack GBG 2020 on the 28th-30th August 2020!
